Picture perfect is what it seems. no struggle, a walk on roses. Playing pretend and wearing invisible masks, hiding emotions will not last. It is easy to think that nothing is wrong - but what makes it seem everything is right?
The constant struggle of finding light in darkness can be exhausting. A constant reminder of pain just around the corner. Having the belief that where theres uphill there is downhill. Where theres joy, there will be pain. But having gone through so many years of rollercoasters I have come to believe where is an uphill, there is a downhill, but once again a climb will follow. There are always moments one can find joy and happiness. To see it is an art of understanding and creating perspective, to believe is having hope and will.
To find light in darkness is not about pretending or forgetting, its about acceptance and hopefulness, about daring and believing.
A few ways to find some light:
- Literally go out just before sunset or sundown and chase the light. This can be so magical it leaves a permanent mark of positivity.
- Create a cosy corner on the floor and surround yourself with books and magazines that inspire you. Forget time, emerge yourself in the pages and find things that make you dream and create portals to another place for just a moment.
- Wait for the rain, put on your boots and rain jacket, bring an umbrella (or not) and just walk. Make the rain feel like its erasing, release your thoughts and let them flow with the rain water.
- Do something that you find scary? Play a game of truth and dare and actually go through with it.
